About Our Program Director
Hello. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you a bit about my background and how I came to start ArtReach Educational Theatre.

My name is Dan Walsh and I grew up here in the Chicago area where I received my Bachelor’s Of Arts Degree, with Honors, from Loyola University. While attending Loyola I also earned my Board of Education Teaching Certificate and taught various seminars and classes at the Chicago Academy of the Arts. In addition to my teaching credentials I have also coached, directed, and choreographed numerous junior high, high school, and college show choirs, dance teams, theatre groups, plays, and musicals.

As a director, I have worked on various projects at resorts, dinner theatres, and professional theatres across the country.

Most recently I directed and choreographed various projects with the Players Guild of Canton, Ohio, the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, The White Pines Dinner Theatre in Mt. Morris, Illinois, and the Melodrama Musical Theatre in Bakersfield, California where I also spent a season teaching and directing their Summer Theatre Arts workshop and served as their Children’s Theatre Arts Coordinator. I am also the Founder and Managing Director of the Spotilite Theatrix Production Company and have produced and directed several projects with this organization.

As a performer, I have gained a broad spectrum of knowledge by working for many professional theatrical venues on various levels. Some of my recent experiences include performing for such companies as Busch Gardens, Princess Cruises, Hershey Resorts, Carnival Cruise Line, Six Flags, and the Mel Tillis and Wayne Newton Theatres in Branson, Missouri. I have also performed as part of several touring companies and at regional, stock and dinner theatres throughout the country. I have also been fortunate to have shared the stage with such stars as Adrian Zmed, Glen Campbell, William Katt, Jeff Trachta, John Ritter, Anna Chlumsky, Sean Hayes, Brenda Lee, Kyle Chandler, and the Lennon Sisters in television specials and theatrical productions and have recently had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl Ladd, Ann-Margret, and Bea Arthur. In addition to my theatrical experiences, I have appeared in print ads and commercials for such companies as McDonald’s. Pepto Bismol, Lord and Taylor, and Claiborne for Men.

During my life I have grown to love the world of theatre and this summer I would like to return to the area I grew up in and share with the children of the area all of the amazing lessons I have learned along my path. This program is not about “making money” which is why I plan to keep the costs as low as possible and will roll tuition costs back into the program to hire experienced theatre professionals as instructors, and to produce and end-of-session theater presentation. ArtReach Educational Theatre will provide a fun, exciting, and challenging educational experience to your child.

I think this should pretty much give you an idea of my background and what I hope to offer your child. If, at any point, you want to contact me regarding your child or the workshop please feel free to do so.

       Yours in the Arts,

     Dan Walsh
